This catalogue aim to present examples of contemporary environ- mentally-friendly and energy-efficient czech architecture, designs that search for interesting bonds with the landscape and demonstrate new possibilities for deriving inspiration from natural forms.
For this reason we have chosen the figurative title "green architecture," which enables us to look at a broad spectrum of approaches that express renewed respect for man's interdependence with the natural world. We are especially interested in presenting buildings that are 'architecture' in the true senseof the world - complex works in which the demand on environmental thoughtfulness is tied to the requirement of creating a positive environment for life, buildings in which structural and operational concerns are an essential component of the creative process.

At the time when architectural fashion, in its effort to approach the immaterial visual fascination of the plasma screen, seems to be occupied principally with themes of veiled transparencies, weightlessness, saturated colors, liquid light,evanescent reflections and rippling, vibrating effects of movement, José Maria Pastrana and Felipe Artengo have set out in the opposite direction, anchoring their architecture in the specifics of its making and its locale, developing their works as a manifestation of and response to the landscape, natural environment, history, and other conditioning factors of its setting, in visual, sensorial, corporeal and existential terms.

Cubism is one of the exciting new artistic styles of the 20th century. It was the merit of Picasso that it came to existence in France but shortly it spread into other countries including Bohemia and Moravia. However Cubism did not gain ground only in artistic branches but also in architecture and design.
