An exhibition will present circa fifty most appealing projects, which came into the existence after year 1990. The exhibition will also be focused on historical
context. Beside of presenting such a known architectural icons as a Dancing house, we will present also buildings or projects, which are less known,
but very unique.
We want to show a dynamical progress of contemporary Prague architecture in a context or European output and regional specificity.
The exhibition will move also to foreign galleries (Munich, Berlin, Rotterdam, Vienna, Brussels) and will be followed by colourful publication.
From the beginning of nineties, Prague has become one of the most important European cities. And if we're talking about tourism, we must say 'one of the most
important world cities'. The speed of progress is increasingly higher. A proof of that could be a Vienna Biennale of Architecture, which specified itself on
contemporary urbanism and uncontrolled city progress. Taking by a metropolis research, Prague belongs to those world cities, which will strongly grow up in a
near future. Of course, there still is a question. What will be this 'growing up' like? Will it concern with people's needs or with developers ambitions?
A contemporary Prague architecture is not in a perfect position. History, medieval urbanism and misunderstanding strongly involve its existence.
Prague is developing, of course. There are more and more new projects. But there is still a matter of quality, however it depends on a subjective look.
It is necessarily to say, that a quality level is still growing and Prague is now near to European progress standard.
The exhibition should show a period from 1990 till now and expose the most important projects of this epoch. It is not only concerned on experts,
but should also present a contemporary Prague architecture to a laic public. Opening chapter will look back to decorative style. Back to times, when Prague was a
real cultural heart of Europe. It will continue till a Velvet revolution. There will be one project from each epoch.
A main part of exhibition will be made up from the most important projects and will be divided to many sections .
A final part will target unrealized projects and visions of future.
